Ann Martin, nee Denton

Father made the floats and her mother helped. Her mother made ll the flowers for their costumes from crepe paper.

Father – Fred Denton
Mother – Connie Denton, nee Gill
Brother – Christopher Denton
Father owned the Hairdressers on Wellingborough Road, opposite to St. Edmunds Hospital, next to the Jekyll and Hyde pub. It is now a take away (2012).
Entires for the carnival were 1949 – “My Specialities” , this is the cake
1949 “My Specialities”
1951 “Chelsea Flower Show”,
1952 “Mary Mary Quite Contrary”
1953 “Carnival of Venice”, Brother was “An Englishman’s Garden”.
Brother was a windmill in 1954
In 1952 Ann won the Silver Cup at Wellingborough Carnival.

Ann’s father made a costume of Swan Lake for a friend’s child at Northampton Carnival c. 1958-1959 after Ann was married, she was married in 1957.
