Foreword: The Northampton Carnival parade has now established itself in the calendar of Northampton’s annual events, and is eagerly looked forward to be children and adults alike. In presenting the 1957 Carnival parade, we hope that much enjoyment will be experienced by the many thousands of onlookers. Whilst it is our object to “put on” an entertaining parade, we feel it necessary to remind you that the ultimate object of the Carnival parade is to provide a sum of money for distribution to “good causes” within the Borough of Northampton.
Last year the post-war collection resulted in an amount of £1,230 being collected. All we ask of the public of Northampton is for everyone to be generous as possible, so that a bumper collection may result. The proceeds of this year’s carnival are being devoted to the Amenity Funds of the local Hospitals, and selected charitable and voluntary bodies of the town.
Please do your utmost to fill the collecting boxes and the many ingenious receptacles into which money may be thrown.
J.L. Sears, W.T. Grose. R.C.T. Dyer.
