In this nursery school a group of Asian mothers who were being supported in learning English met with a worker from the school to design a banner on the theme 'Moving on'. This theme was chosen by the school because due to building of Oplympic site some of the school community were being relocated. The parent group interpreted the theme in relation to their own journeys from another country to the UK. They entitled it 'Distant lands, Travelling voices' and incorporated their own words and photographs in the banner making it a strong group statement. The whole experience of making the banner, sharing their personal stories and taking part in the carnival was very significant for them.
