Description

The orange banner was produced by pupils at Sir James Barrie Primary School, we had been thinking about the commemoration of the bi-centenary of the abolition of the slave trade, and considering traditions that had survived relocation to the Caribbean. We talked about how African Masquerade has influenced Caribbean carnival and made these studies of W .African masks for the banner and also to inspire our carnival mask designs. Celia Burgess Macey was working in partnership with the class -teachers and EMA teacher to help them to prepare for the Wandsworth Schools Carnival 2007
