Description

Young pan player in William Patten Junior in school in Hackney circa 1986. At this time when ILEA was still in existence many schools had school steel bands and tutors visiting to teach children. Usually the teachers were of Trinidadian origin and Gerald Forsyth organised and supported the whole initiative from within the music Inspectorate of ILEA. Sadly when ILEA was disbanded many school steel bands ceased to function.
