Michael Maguire – Senior Advice Worker
Michael was secretary for the forum for a number of years but gave up his place on the committee to take up the Advice Worker when it became available in July 2004. Michael has worked in advice for 7 years and was recently promoted to senior advice worker to manage the expanding advice service. The Senior Advice Worker post covers Irish Pensions, Irish Passports, UK benefits, employment law and also help in accessing services for those who want to return to Ireland. Mary Fitzmaurice – Advice and Outreach Worker
Mary joined the Luton Irish Forum as Advice and Outreach Worker in October 2005 and is working to increase the uptake of benefit entitlements particularly amongst older people. Mary covers such issues as Pension Credit, Disability Living Allowance, Attendance Allowance, Carers Allowance, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit. Mary holds a number of surgeries across the Luton area for those who are unable to make it into the forum, a full list of these can be found on page 4.
Nicola Molloy- Development Worker
Nicola took up the development workers post in May 2005. The previous development worker, Frances McAuley left in Sept 2004 to work for the federation of Irish societies. Nicola’s main area of work is to help the forum achieve the recommendations of the research commissioned by the forum in 2004. (a summary of the findings is on page 2).
