Raising a glass to St Patrick
Revellers painted the town green for St Patrick’s Day despite poor weather on Saturday.
The annual parade started in Bolton Road and finished on Market Hill with the traditional presentation of the shamrock, accompanied by tunes from Luton Irish Forum (LIF)’s Emerald Pipeband.
As well as regulars like the World Champion University of Bedfordshire Pipeband, the parade also features LIF’s Princess Maud replica, on which so many Irish made their journey to England.
The boat was part of a Heritage Lottery Fund project in which children form three schools in Luton were involved as they learned about the Irish community in the town. |
