A message from the Mayor and Mayoress of Northampton.

Of all the many well-deserving Institutions in Northampton, there is none that appeals to me more forcibly than what was in my early days known as the General Infirmary: now recognised as the Northampton General Hospital.
In the year 1935, I was myself sent by my Medical Attendant to this Institution for observation, and then proved to my entire satisfaction the value of the care bestowed on individual patients by the Doctors and Nurses. Nothing can possibly be done for or given to the Funds of the Hospital which is not absolutely merited; and I appeal with every confidence for its continued and increased support.
It would give me a great satisfaction to know that a good records sum was reached this year.

It is with pleasure that I look forward to Carnival Day when I feel sure that Northampton will rise to the occasion and make a ‘read letter’ day of it in its desire and with its usual generosity to help the good cause of Hospital finance.
In 1913, when I had the honour of occupying the position of Mayoress the appeal made for Radium met with unbounded success.
That we may have a similar result on July 10th is my sincere desire.
