Description

A BIG PARADE

Prior to the meeting, the Raunds Temperance Band had led a long procession on a parade of the town. Marshalled in the grounds of "The Crossways," the residence of Mr. E. A. Milligan, J.P., the procession included the members of the Raunds Urban District Council and representatives of other public bodies, neighbouring Hospital Week Committees members of Friendly Societies, the competitors in half-a-dozen fancy dress competitions, a comic section, a very strong contingent of Rushden Girl Guides, and several very pretty emblematical cars. After the meeting there were sports and a Fire Brigades competition in the Green House Field, lent by Mr. Amos Lawrence.
The organisation was excellent, and the committee, of which Mr. George Bass is president and Mr. W. F. Corby and Mr. R. Lawrence are the hon. secs., deserve congratulations.
